Cheers!

The Bizarre Brood is sponsored by the Flying Duck, a fantastic nightclub in town, who'll be helping us with a Red Stripe bar. Derwent are sponsoring the show with some of their new range of pencils so everyone who attends the show will recieve a fancy pencil and the first ten people through the door will win a whole box of them!

Russell Dempster- Bizarre Brood

We open a new show on the 25th April 2008 between 7 and 10pm, a solo exhibition of Russell Dempster's work called The Bizarre Brood.

For those that don't know Russell and his work, he graduated in 2004 and has since taken part in 7 exhibitions in both Edinburgh and Glasgow. He draws hyper-real, distorted pencil drawings, and will be showing eight new ones at this show, all linked through their comments on human behaviour and relationships.

ELPH update

ELPH's exhibition has been pretty amazing, we've had loads of visitors, and we only have 10 pieces left out of 50, so better get your skates on if you haven't been down yet and are looking to pick up a piece.

Theres going to be an interview with ELPH in the List this month too, so make sure you grab one.

SPT festival

We're going to be down at Kelvinbridge Underground station this Saturday, the 12th April 2008, painting a mural for the SPT underground festival with ELPH and Sam Bates. We'll be there 11-3.

State of the Nation

For those that haven't picked up on this story, DAZE, a graffiti writer from Glasgow has just been given 2 years in jail for "8 acts of malicious damage." 2 years in prison for a 23 year old for writing DAZE on trains and public property. It seems ridiculous. Would community service have not been a little more practical, money saving and beneficial?

Check out this website for more info: http://www.freedaze.co.uk/ and come in a sign the pretition we've got going if you agree with us.

ELPH opening

Spirits and Bitumen

We're opening a new exhibition on the 21st March 2008, 7-10pm called "Spirits and Bitumen". Its a solo exhibition of ELPH's artwork. Hes showing large paintings, beautiful drawings, a life size sculpture of one of his characters, doing some painting in the space and launching a publication of his drawings and paintings. On the 19th we're all painting a piece at the Art School in the afternoon in conjunction with the Mural Society.

ELPH is a Scottish illustrator, animator, graphic designer and graffiti artist based in Edinburgh. He is famous worldwide for his big nosed, “wino” characters that now float and stroll around the streets of the UK. He’ll be painting one of these characters in a mural at the Glasgow School of Art in conjunction with the Mural Society in the week leading up to the show. He has exhibited across the UK and internationally and was recently included in the Tristan Manco, “Street Sketchbook”, published by Thames and Hudson. ELPH says, “There are many mixed ideas in the show, a bit like changing the channel on your cable television every 2 minutes. The show goes from war reportage to booze Britain and then to some weird fashion programs.”
